Business Development Manager

Location: Home-based with UK travel

Salary: up to £40,000 + uncapped commission

Reporting to: Sales Director

Hours of work: Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week

The primary purpose of the role is to challenge customer ideas and introduce new solutions to resolve customer ‘problems’ that they didn’t know existed. You will define and drive the business activity for the company and generate new business sales in line with business growth and profit targets. 
The ideal candidate will have a background of new business sales within a software environment. You must be a tenacious sales person with the ability to develop strong long lasting business relationships, maximising revenues, market penetration, customer growth and client fulfilment with a particular focus on the acquisition of new clients. You will be responsible for the strategic growth of the business, leading on tenders and bids, as well as identifying partners and joint venture opportunities.

Specific responsibilities:

  • To be responsible for the strategic growth of the business, leading on tenders and bids, as well as identifying partners and joint venture opportunities
  • Develop an effective sales strategy to build a high-value pipeline within specific sectors
  • New business focused, you will own a personal revenue target
  • Review customer supply chains and systems architecture and put forward solutions that integrate the customer and create a compelling business case
  • Provide inspired and insightful solutions to capitalise on the organisation’s excellent reputation and expanding service provision, across all divisions
  • Monitor figures and create accurate forecasting
  • To take a patient approach to sales with the ability to maintain high levels of energy through long sales cycles
  • Building and expanding relevant networks, attending events and building brand awareness
  • Keep Salesforce Update
  • To attend monthly sales meetings
  • To assist with campaigns into new markets and sectors

Essential:

  • Thorough understanding of the intricacies involved in complex sales and long selling cycles
  • Experienced in solution based sales
  • A high degree of emotional intelligence
  • Detail management of the solution design
  • Full Driving License

Desirable:

  • Experience of using Salesforce
  • Experience of sales either selling into or selling for IT Services or OEMs, Telecommunications, Reprographics, Utilities Retailers or BPO.
